How is your life reflecting the fulfillment of its purpose?
"32 For behold, this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God; yea, behold the day of this life is the day for men to perform their labors.
33 And now, as I said unto you before, as ye have had so many witnesses, therefore, I beseech of you that ye do not procrastinate the day of your repentance until the end; for after this day of life, which is given us to prepare for eternity, behold, if we do not improve our time while in this life, then cometh the night of darkness wherein there can be no labor performed.
34 Ye cannot say, when ye are brought to that awful crisis, that I will repent, that I will return to my God. Nay, ye cannot say this; for that same spirit which doth possess your bodies at the time that ye go out of this life, that same spirit will have power to possess your body in that eternal world.
35 For behold, if ye have procrastinated the day of your repentance even until death, behold, ye have become subjected to the spirit of the devil, and he doth seal you his; therefore, the Spirit of the Lord hath withdrawn from you, and hath no place in you, and the devil hath all power over you; and this is the final state of the wicked." (Alma 34: 32-35)
"31 Yea, I would that ye would come forth and harden not your hearts any longer; for behold, now is the time and the day of your salvation; and therefore, if ye will repent and harden not your hearts, immediately shall the great plan of redemption be brought about unto you." (Alma 34: 31)
And here's the commentary entitled: “Now is the time and the day of your salvation.”:
"Imagine that you want to participate in a marathon or a musical performance. What would happen if you waited until the day of the event to prepare? How does this example relate to Amulek’s warnings in Alma 34:32–35? What is the danger of delaying our efforts to repent and change?
Verse 31 also has a message for people who might worry that they’ve already delayed too long and it’s too late to repent. What would you say that message is?"
You would want to be prepared ahead of time to participate in a marathon or a musical performance. We need to prepare in advance for any performance we would do actually. And in my case, when I'm able to prepare way ahead of time, I really feel great. For the primary singing time we're doing in our ward (Bangkok) tomorrow I started preparing for it last Sunday right when we got back home from church. For my lessons to my nursery students at school, I'm doing my best to prepare everything way ahead of time. As of now, I'm already prepared for my lessons this coming Thursday and Friday (No classes this Monday up to Wednesday due to the King's birthday holiday and a two-day-seminar at school). And I'm preparing for my next lessons already. I love to be prepared long before the scheduled time for my performance. It makes me feel peaceful and joyful. There was a time when I was not well-prepared for a Science experiment with two of my fellow teachers--I brought something which is needed and yet I did not confirm if my fellow teachers brought some materials as well. So ended up deciding to use something we have in the school to use with what I brought for our experiment. And it took time for us to figure out what to do on the spot. The three of us were called out for what happened. I never want that to happen again. And I never what this to happen to me spiritually. While I have time now, I want to prepare myself so I'll be ready to meet God.
"...if ye will repent and harden not your hearts, immediately shall the great plan of redemption be brought about unto you." It's never too late to decide to start repenting or to start getting ready to meet God, the very purpose of our coming down here on earth. Now is the time. Go for it now while there is still time. It takes a process to repent. You don't want to wait until you're already on your deathbed and can't really go through the whole process before you decide to get started with it.
