1 Nephi 9: 5

How have you seen God's hand working to accomplish His purpose in your life?

"Wherefore, the Lord hath commanded me to make these plates for a wise purpose in him, which purpose I know not." (1 Nephi 9: 5)

And here's the beginning part of the introductory commentary for this week's reading assignment: February 10–16: “That You May Come Off Conqueror” Doctrine and Covenants 10–11 :

"As the translation of the Book of Mormon continued, a question came up: What should Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery do about those lost pages of the translation? It might make sense to retranslate that portion, but the Lord saw something they could not: their enemies were planning to alter the words on those pages to cast doubt on Joseph’s inspired work. God had a plan to avoid that problem and keep the work moving forward. Thousands of years earlier, God inspired Nephi to write a second record that covered the same time period “for a wise purpose in Him” (1 Nephi 9:5)."

After teaching in a school back in my home country about two decades ago, I had the idea to resign from teaching and take the Caregiving Training Course for 6 months. And when it's about time to do the on-the-job-training as a caregiver, I got invited to come over here in Thailand to look for a teaching job here. So, even though I didn't get my certificate as a caregiver I did learn how to do the caregiving work so that when I'm doing it my body is like doing exercise (rather than hard work) as I'm doing the movements the right way. And now after teaching here in Thailand for around 19 years now and getting moved to teaching Nursery students this school year 2024-25, I've been able to do more caregiving and less teaching. And caring for my 2-3-year-old students has been so easy because of my caregiving training. I'm so grateful the Lord gave me the idea to take the Caregiving Training Course and that I listened and did it. The Lord indeed prepared me for the work I am doing now at school. Being a Nursery or Pre-Kindergarten teacher, I am more a caregiver than a teacher because we're teaching our 3 classes only 2-3 periods per day. The rest of each day we're taking care of our students. The movements I'm doing to take care of my students are easy to do for me because I've learned how to do them properly through my training. I feel so abundantly blessed because I am enjoying my work at school now more than ever before. I love my sweet students and I love to see how they enjoy learning as I teach them. And I love to see how they appreciate my service to them as I do things to help them. My students are always happy. I love seeing their smiles. They are curious and excited to learn. And helping them to appreciate learning is all I'm doing as I teach them the lessons. That's why I'm having so much fun teaching them. The focus is instilling the value of learning. They don't need to remember everything I'm teaching so they can pass the test as we're not giving them tests. And I just love serving my students. I'm so joyful because my training has been making it easy for me to serve them as I help them with their needs. I'm so grateful God has inspired me ahead of time to move forward with that decision that would prepare me to do this work I'm doing now. Truly, God has a purpose for everything. He inspires us ahead of time to do things to prepare us for the challenges that will come our way in the future.
