Doctrine and Covenants 73

How has your own testimony grown as you’ve shared the message of Jesus Christ with others?

"Revelation given to Joseph Smith the Prophet and Sidney Rigdon, at Hiram, Ohio, January 10, 1832. Since the early part of the preceding December, the Prophet and Sidney had been engaged in preaching, and by this means much was accomplished in diminishing the unfavorable feelings that had arisen against the Church (see the heading to section 71).

1–2, Elders are to continue to preach; 3–6, Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon are to continue to translate the Bible until it is finished.

For verily, thus saith the Lord, it is expedient in me that they should continue preaching the gospel, and in exhortation to the churches in the regions round about, until conference;

And then, behold, it shall be made known unto them, by the voice of the conference, their several missions.

Now, verily I say unto you my servants, Joseph Smith, Jun., and Sidney Rigdon, saith the Lord, it is expedient to translate again;

And, inasmuch as it is practicable, to preach in the regions round about until conference; and after that it is expedient to continue the work of translation until it be finished.

And let this be a pattern unto the elders until further knowledge, even as it is written.

Now I give no more unto you at this time. Gird up your loins and be sober. Even so. Amen." (Doctrine and Covenants 73)

And here's the commentary entitled: "I have many opportunities to share the Savior’s gospel." :

"When Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon returned from their missionary assignment (see Doctrine and Covenants 71), the Lord told them to continue their translation of the Bible (see Guide to the Scriptures, “Joseph Smith Translation (JST),” Gospel Library). But that didn’t mean He wanted them to stop sharing the gospel. After all, it’s part of the life of a disciple.

As you read Doctrine and Covenants 73, consider how you can make sharing the gospel an ongoing, “practicable” (verse 4)—or realistic—part of your life among your other responsibilities.

Sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ can be normal and natural."

Started making some effort to share the gospel during the normal course of my day at work like having a conversation with colleagues sometime last year. It's perfect timing that I was moved to teaching Nursery then and my fellow Filipino teacher was new in the school. I realized there's a purpose that we were brought together to work in the same environment. This new teacher, when she heard me saying "Church" as I was telling my little story while we were together with other Kindergarten teachers on the first day of the school year last year, she asked the name of the Church where I belong right away. And when she heard the name of the Church, she said she is a member of the same Church herself. I would later learn that she was baptized back in the Philippines and wasn't able to attend Church since she started having children 6 years ago. We were both delighted to learn we belong to the same Church. I started inviting her to Church then and she's been able to go to Church twice already since before Christmas last year.

I'm grateful that I made up my mind to talk about what I do and where I go during weekends, including Sundays when I'm having some chat with my colleagues. Now a sister that was lost before has been found. And I still continue to share naturally with colleagues about things that we do at church like the recent Talent Presentation that we did where I was part of the Filipino sisters who represented the International ward in the Bangkok Stake's Culture night and we did a Filipino folk dance which everybody enjoyed.
