Doctrine and Covenants 45: 1-5

How do you feel knowing that Jesus Christ is our Advocate with the Father?

"Hearken, O ye people of my church, to whom the kingdom has been given; hearken ye and give ear to him who laid the foundation of the earth, who made the heavens and all the hosts thereof, and by whom all things were made which live, and move, and have a being.

And again I say, hearken unto my voice, lest death shall overtake you; in an hour when ye think not the summer shall be past, and the harvest ended, and your souls not saved.

Listen to him who is the advocate with the Father, who is pleading your cause before him

Saying: Father, behold the sufferings and death of him who did no sin, in whom thou wast well pleased; behold the blood of thy Son which was shed, the blood of him whom thou gavest that thyself might be glorified;

Wherefore, Father, spare these my brethren that believe on my name, that they may come unto me and have everlasting life." (Doctrine and Covenants 45: 1-5)

And here's the beginning part of the commentary entitled: "Jesus Christ is my Advocate with the Father." :

"When we feel inadequate or unworthy before God, we can find reassurance from the Savior’s words in Doctrine and Covenants 45:1–5. As you search these verses, consider questions like these:

  • What words or phrases in these verses feel especially meaningful to you?

  • An advocate is someone who publicly supports or recommends a person or cause. According to these verses, how does Jesus Christ do this for you? What qualifies Him to do it?

  • What impresses you about the Savior’s words to the Father? (verses 4–5)."

Almost all the words or phrases in verses 1-5 of Doctrine and Covenants 45 are especially meaningful to me. You can see I highlighted them almost 100% 😊

Jesus Christ is our only Advocate with the Father. He is the Only One whom the Father is completely pleased since He has no sin at all. There's no one else who could recommend us to the Father except Him. I'm forever thankful to Him, our Elder Brother, for doing what we could not do for me, and for everyone.

Jesus' words acknowledged Heavenly Father's sacrifice of His Only Begotten Son so that those who believe in Him may have everlasting life. This is what expresses me because the Lord is giving glory to the Father, giving Him credit for what He has done for all of God's children.
