Doctrine and Covenants 51: 19; 52: 15; 54: 2

How is the Lord using you to build Zion?

"19 And whoso is found a faithful, a just, and a wise steward shall enter into the joy of his Lord, and shall inherit eternal life." (Doctrine and Covenants 51: 19)

"15 Wherefore he that prayeth, whose spirit is contrite, the same is accepted of me if he obey mine ordinances." (Doctrine and Covenants 52: 15)

"Behold, verily, verily, I say unto you, my servant Newel Knight, you shall stand fast in the office whereunto I have appointed you." (Doctrine and Covenants 54: 2)

And here's the introductory commentary for this week's reading assignment: May 26–June 1: “A Faithful, a Just, and a Wise Steward” Doctrine and Covenants 51–57 :

"For Church members in the 1830s, gathering the Saints and building the city of Zion were spiritual as well as temporal labors, with many practical matt
ers to address: Someone needed to buy land where the Saints could settle. Someone needed to print books and other publications. And someone needed to run a store to provide goods for people in Zion. In the revelations recorded in Doctrine and Covenants 51–57, the Lord appointed and instructed people to handle these tasks.

But while skills in such things are needed in Zion, these revelations also teach that the Lord desires His Saints to become spiritually worthy to be called a Zion people—His people. He calls each of us to be “a faithful, a just, and a wise steward,” having a contrite spirit, “stand[ing] fast” in our appointed responsibilities (see Doctrine and Covenants 51:1952:1554:2). If we can do that—regardless of our temporal skills—the Lord can use us to build Zion."

The Lord can indeed use us to build Zion regardless of our temporal skills. The Lord inspires us through His Spirit to know exactly what to do with our time, energy, and talent to help build His kingdom. When we are listening we would recognize His voice as He is reveals to us what we can do.

The other night I had a dream. I saw an old friend in my dream. We used to be neighbors when we were high school students. I couldn't remember exactly when was the last time I saw him. I just knew at that time he's already married and would provide for his family as a vendor at our hometown's market. Since I saw him in my dream I decided to search for him on Facebook. I did find him and sent him a message. He sent me a message back. He said he's vacationing at a hospital. He does have a sense of humor despite being sick. Sent him a message again today and he said he's feeling better and will be soon discharged from the hospital. So grateful I am able to connect with him and that he's about to go home from the hospital, his illness is not that serious. I know the Lord does want me to connect with him and his family. Sent him a selfie of myself and my husband which I took while we were on the way back here at our apartment from going to church today. Told him we came from church. From what I see in his FB profile the area where he lives at the moment is part of my family's new ward, the newly created (last year) Daet Ward 3. Looks like the Lord wants me to help him become active in the church again.
