How have you been blessed by striving to be more patient?
"10 And again, verily I say unto you that it is your privilege, and a promise I give unto you that have been ordained unto this ministry, that inasmuch as you strip yourselves from jealousies and fears, and humble yourselves before me, for ye are not sufficiently humble, the veil shall be rent and you shall see me and know that I am—not with the carnal neither natural mind, but with the spiritual.
11 For no man has seen God at any time in the flesh, except quickened by the Spirit of God.
12 Neither can any natural man abide the presence of God, neither after the carnal mind.
13 Ye are not able to abide the presence of God now, neither the ministering of angels; wherefore, continue in patience until ye are perfected.
14 Let not your minds turn back; and when ye are worthy, in mine own due time, ye shall see and know that which was conferred upon you by the hands of my servant Joseph Smith, Jun. Amen." (Doctrine and Covenants 67: 10-14)
"19 For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father." (Mosiah 3: 19)
And here's the commentary entitled: “Continue in patience.” :
"How do jealousy, fear, and pride keep us from growing closer to the Lord? How do we overcome the “natural man” or “carnal mind” so that we can “see [Him] and know that [He is]”? (verse 10; see also Mosiah 3:19). What do you find in these verses that inspires you to “continue in patience until ye are perfected”? (verse 13)."
Jealousy, fear, and pride keep us from growing closer to the Lord by turning our attention and affection only to ourselves. By choosing to continue in patience we can overcome the "natural man" or "carnal mind" and we can "see Him and know that He is"
These are what I find in these verses that inspires me to continue in patience until I am perfected:
"Inasmuch as you strip yourselves from jealousies and fears, and humble yourselves before me...the veil shall be rent and you shall see me and know that I am—not with the carnal neither natural mind, but with the spiritual." (v. 10)
"When ye are worthy, in mine own due time, ye shall see and know that which was conferred upon you by the hands of my servant Joseph Smith, Jun." (v. 14)
