How can everyone contribute to the work of God?
"106 And if any man among you be strong in the Spirit, let him take with him him that is weak, that he may be edified in all meekness, that he may become strong also.
107 Therefore, take with you those who are ordained unto the lesser priesthood, and send them before you to make appointments, and to prepare the way, and to fill appointments that you yourselves are not able to fill.
108 Behold, this is the way that mine apostles, in ancient days, built up my church unto me.
109 Therefore, let every man stand in his own office, and labor in his own calling; and let not the head say unto the feet it hath no need of the feet; for without the feet how shall the body be able to stand?
110 Also the body hath need of every member, that all may be edified together, that the system may be kept perfect." (Doctrine and Covenants 84: 106-110)
And here's the commentary entitled: "Everyone can contribute to the work of God." :
"What do you learn from these verses about how the Lord accomplishes His work? What counsel and blessings do you find? You might also think about how you have been “edified in all meekness” because you served with someone who was “strong in the Spirit,” including people in your family."
Just within this past week, while chatting about the passing of a couple of his family members who both died because of kidney issues, I told a friend about how I would talk to parts of my body and even say sorry sometimes. Like I would say sorry to my kidneys when, instead of going to the restroom when I feel the urge to go, I would delay going because I'm busy with something. And then this insight came to my mind, and I also shared this with him, "As members of Christ's Church, we are the body of Christ. The Lord is taking care of each and every one of us, His body. We take care of one another as members of the Church. That's how the Lord is able to take care of each part of His body. Each part of the body of Christ is important. We talk to each body part, and say sorry sometimes when we're not able to pay attention to and help them with their needs, just as I would talk to and say sorry to parts of my body myself."
This insight I just gained goes perfectly well with the verses in this blog post today. And I'm grateful for the Holy Ghost for letting this flow into my mind. This also reminded me of my ministering assignment. We got new assignments in Bangkok Ward months ago, and I'm finally able to check the names of those assigned to me to minister.
Every member of the Church has a role to play or can contribute to the work of God. The spiritually strong can help those who need some spiritual lifting. The strong and the weak can work together. When the weak ones get strengthened, they can pay it forward and help to strengthen others as well.
I was edified in all meekness by many who were doing their best to minister to me and to others. I'm so grateful for their strength in Spirit that strengthened me during the times that my Spirit was weak.
At the school where I am working now, I've been teaching the 7th graders since the beginning of the school year (got moved to a new level again after getting moved to different levels for the past two school years), and I'm seeing how the students in my 6 classes have differences in their levels of strengths and weaknesses. Not many students got high and good scores during the midterm exam they just did the week before. And so I decided to mix my students up before giving them their new project to work on. So every group got students who are strong and weak together, and as every group works on their video creation project together, the weak ones will be strengthened by the strong ones. So every student can contribute to their work of completing their project. I'm grateful to get a firsthand experience of leading my students to work together this way and to see that this is how the Lord wants us to work together in completing His work.
