What intentional steps are you taking to stay spiritually prepared and actively involved in gathering the righteous to the Savior?
"8 Therefore, thus saith the Lord unto you, with whom thepriesthoodhath continued through the lineage of your fathers—
9 For ye are lawful heirs, according to the flesh, and have been hid from the world with Christ in God—
10 Therefore your life and the priesthood have remained, and must needs remain through you and your lineage until the restoration of all things spoken by the mouths of all the holy prophets since the world began.
11 Therefore, blessed are ye if ye continue in my goodness, a light unto the Gentiles, and through this priesthood, a savior unto my people Israel. The Lord hath said it. Amen." (Doctrine and Covenants 86: 8-11)
And here's the end part of the commentary entitled: "The righteous are gathered to Christ in the last days." :
"Here are a few additional questions to consider:
After interpreting the parable, the Lord spoke of priesthood, restoration, and the salvation of His people (see verses 8–11). What connections do you see between these themes and the parable of the wheat and the tares?
What is your role in being a “light unto the Gentiles” and “a savior unto [the Lord’s] people”? (verse 11)."
The connections that I see are these: Being the wheat, we need to stand in holy places and not be moved and not drink of the cup of the whore, so we don't get choked up by the tares, and stay strong, and keep growing, reaching our true potential, and being able to keep our power to influence others. We need to continue in the Lord's goodness, and keep shining our light unto the Gentiles, and through the priesthood. We are able to do this when we don't choose to drink of the cup of the whore or when we don't give in to that temptation to be influenced or enticed by the tares around us. We want to influence others instead of being influenced by them. We don't want to be influenced by the tares, or give in to the temptation to drink of the cup of the whore and lose our strength and power to shine our light to many of God's children.
My role in being a "light unto the Gentiles" and "a savior unto the Lord's people" is to help as many of God's children as possible to be able to come unto Christ through my instrumentality. The Lord can use me more to help in doing His work as I do my part by striving to keep myself clean and unspotted from the world (or the not drinking of the cup of the whore and not getting choked by the tares) by being in the world but not of the world.
