Doctrine and Covenants 97: 12

What difference would it make in your life if you choose to do the sacrifice the Lord wants you to make?

"12 Behold, this is the tithing and the sacrifice which I, the Lord, require at their hands, that there may be a house built unto me for the salvation of Zion—" (Doctrine and Covenants 97: 12)

And here's the end part of the commentary: "The temple is the house of the Lord." :

"You might compare the Saints’ efforts to build the Kirtland Temple to your efforts to prepare for meaningful experiences with the Lord in the temple. How can you show the same sense of urgency that Hyrum Smith felt toward the Lord’s holy house? For example, what could you do that would be like clearing the field, as Hyrum did? What sacrifices do you feel the Lord wants you to make? (see Doctrine and Covenants 97:12).

I can show the same sense of urgency that Hyrum felt toward the Lord's holy house by clearing my life of things that don't really matter, and focusing more on things that matter most. I feel the Lord wants me to sacrifice my time and energy in preparing more names of my ancestors to be taken to the temple and helping others prepare the names of their ancestors themselves by helping more in doing indexing of records.
