Doctrine and Covenants 98: 11-12; 101: 1-9; 98: 1-3, 22; 101: 10-16, 22-31, 36

How have you seen your trials working together for your good?

"11 And I give unto you a commandment, that ye shall forsake all evil and cleave unto all good, that ye shall live by every word which proceedeth forth out of the mouth of God.

12 For he will give unto the faithful line upon line, precept upon precept; and I will try you and prove you herewith." (Doctrine and Covenants 98: 11-12)

"Verily I say unto you, concerning your brethren who have been afflicted, and persecuted, and cast out from the land of their inheritance—

I, the Lord, have suffered the affliction to come upon them, wherewith they have been afflicted, in consequence of their transgressions;

Yet I will own them, and they shall be mine in that day when I shall come to make up my jewels.

Therefore, they must needs be chastened and tried, even as Abraham, who was commanded to offer up his only son.

For all those who will not endure chastening, but deny me, cannot be sanctified.

Behold, I say unto you, there were jarrings, and contentions, and envyings, and strifes, and lustful and covetous desires among them; therefore by these things they polluted their inheritances.

They were slow to hearken unto the voice of the Lord their God; therefore, the Lord their God is slow to hearken unto their prayers, to answer them in the day of their trouble.

In the day of their peace they esteemed lightly my counsel; but, in the day of their trouble, of necessity they feel after me.

Verily I say unto you, notwithstanding their sins, my bowels are filled with compassion towards them. I will not utterly cast them off; and in the day of wrath I will remember mercy." (Doctrine and Covenants 101: 1-9)

"Verily I say unto you my friends, fear not, let your hearts be comforted; yea, rejoice evermore, and in everything give thanks;

Waiting patiently on the Lord, for your prayers have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth, and are recorded with this seal and testament—the Lord hath sworn and decreed that they shall be granted.

Therefore, he giveth this promise unto you, with an immutable covenant that they shall be fulfilled; and all things wherewith you have been afflicted shall work together for your good, and to my name’s glory, saith the Lord.

22 And again I say unto you, if ye observe to do whatsoever I command you, I, the Lord, will turn away all wrath and indignation from you, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against you." (Doctrine and Covenants 98: 1-3, 22)

"10 I have sworn, and the decree hath gone forth by a former commandment which I have given unto you, that I would let fall the sword of mine indignation in behalf of my people; and even as I have said, it shall come to pass.

11 Mine indignation is soon to be poured out without measure upon all nations; and this will I do when the cup of their iniquity is full.

12 And in that day all who are found upon the watch-tower, or in other words, all mine Israel, shall be saved.

13 And they that have been scattered shall be gathered.

14 And all they who have mourned shall be comforted.

15 And all they who have given their lives for my name shall be crowned.

16 Therefore, let your hearts be comforted concerning Zion; for all flesh is in mine hands; be still and know that I am God." (Doctrine and Covenants 101: 10-16)

"22 Behold, it is my will, that all they who call on my name, and worship me according to mine everlasting gospel, should gather together, and stand in holy places;

23 And prepare for the revelation which is to come, when the veil of the covering of my temple, in my tabernacle, which hideth the earth, shall be taken off, and all flesh shall see me together.

24 And every corruptible thing, both of man, or of the beasts of the field, or of the fowls of the heavens, or of the fish of the sea, that dwells upon all the face of the earth, shall be consumed;

25 And also that of element shall melt with fervent heat; and all things shall become new, that my knowledge and glory may dwell upon all the earth.

26 And in that day the enmity of man, and the enmity of beasts, yea, the enmity of all flesh, shall cease from before my face.

27 And in that day whatsoever any man shall ask, it shall be given unto him.

28 And in that day Satan shall not have power to tempt any man.

29 And there shall be no sorrow because there is no death.

30 In that day an infant shall not die until he is old; and his life shall be as the age of a tree;

31 And when he dies he shall not sleep, that is to say in the earth, but shall be changed in the twinkling of an eye, and shall be caught up, and his rest shall be glorious.

36 Wherefore, fear not even unto death; for in this world your joy is not full, but in me your joy is full." (Doctrine and Covenants 101: 22-31, 36)

And here's the middle part of the commentary entitled: "My trials can work together for my good." :

"This was true for the Saints in Missouri in 1833, and it’s true for us today. As you read what the Lord told the Saints in Doctrine and Covenants 98 and 101, ponder how His message applies to the various trials or difficulties you might have. Here are some questions and resources to help you.

If a trial is a result of:

  • Personal choices: What counsel—and promises—do you find in Doctrine and Covenants 98:11–12101:1–9? What do you learn from these verses about Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ? What do you feel God would have you do?

  • The choices of others: What comfort do you find in Doctrine and Covenants 98:1–3, 22101:10–16, 22? How does the Lord want us to respond to abuse, bullying, or violence? (See Life Help, “Abuse,” Gospel Library; Topics and Questions, “Abuse,” Gospel Library.) What do these verses teach about how to put your trust in the Lord?

  • The difficulties of mortality: What perspective do you gain from Doctrine and Covenants 98:1–3101:22–31, 36? What are you learning from your trials? What are you doing to invite God’s help? How is He helping you?"

From my trials I'm learning that the Lord is truly there for me, ready to help me always, and He is gently nudging me so I could stay in the covenant path, and not forget Him and lose my way as I strive to reach my goals in life. To invite God's help, what I am doing aside from striving to put God first in my life is affirming that I can do all things through Him because He is the most powerful being. And His hand has indeed been there making miracles happen to help me. Things are happening which I never expected and they are exactly the help that I needed the most. Here are a couple of instances that happened just recently:

  • Last month, I got chosen to be among the four foreign teachers from my school to join a seminar at a hotel with other teachers around Bangkok by November this year. This is a great blessing for me because I need one more certificate to complete the three certificates I'm accumulating as a requirement when I apply for the renewal of my teaching license here in Thailand by May 2026, about eight months form now. And I'm definitely getting a certificate during that seminar in November. I already got three certificates at the moment and yet I'm not sure if I can still use one of them. And now I am sure I will have my third certificate right before I start applying for the renewal of my teaching license.

  • Just the other day I was able to set up my digital products to be available for purchase online because of the generosity of a person who gave me a huge discount so I would continue my onboarding process and get on the platform she created. Now my first digital product is finally published!

I'm so grateful for these two miracles. The first one came all of a sudden. And the second one is such a big help that I never anticipated would come. I've been trying hard to get my digital product published and available in the market before.  At long last, it's out in the market now.
