How has your study of the Book of Mormon this year strengthened your testimony of Jesus Christ?
"4 For the fulness of mine intent is that I may persuade men to come unto the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, and be saved." (1 Nephi 6: 4)
"18 And I, Nephi, have written these things unto my people, that perhaps I might persuade them that they would remember the Lord their Redeemer." (1 Nephi 19: 18)
"23 For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.
26 And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins." (2 Nephi 25: 23, 26)
"4 And I know that the Lord God will consecrate my prayers for the gain of my people. And the words which I have written in weakness will be made strong unto them; for it persuadeth them to do good; it maketh known unto them of their fathers; and it speaketh of Jesus, and persuadeth them to believe in him, and to endure to the end, which is life eternal.
10 And now, my beloved brethren, and also Jew, and all ye ends of the earth, hearken unto these words and believe in Christ; and if ye believe not in these words believe in Christ. And if ye shall believe in Christ ye will believe in these words, for they are the words of Christ, and he hath given them unto me; and they teach all men that they should do good." (2 Nephi 33: 4, 10)
And here's the beginning part of the commentary entitled: "The Book of Mormon testifies of Jesus Christ." :
“Another Testament of Jesus Christ” is more than just a subtitle for the Book of Mormon; it is a statement of its divine purpose. Ponder what you learn from the following scriptures about the Book of Mormon’s mission to testify of Christ: 1 Nephi 6:4; 19:18; and 2 Nephi 25:23, 26; 33:4, 10.
Consider recording in a journal how studying the Book of Mormon this year has brought you closer to Christ. The following prompts might help:
“Something I learned or felt about the Savior this year was …”
“Learning about the Savior in the Book of Mormon changed the way that I …”
“My favorite person [or story] in the Book of Mormon taught me that the Savior …”
Something I felt about the Savior this year was how closer He is to me than ever before as He quickly comes to my rescue and turns my frown into a smile quicker than ever before as I'm able to turn to Him more than I've been able to before.
The Lord was not just bossed around and rejected. He was mocked and beaten and even conspired against that He died on the cross. My burden is only just a tiny bit and He carried it all with all the burdens of the rest of God's children. So He did make my burden light by making me stronger as I look to Him. This year I've seen a number of times how my burden was lifted quickly and turned my frown upside down back into a smile.
Learning about the Savior in the Book of Mormon changed the way I love other people around me.
The Lord did show His love to even the worst kind of people described in the Book of Mormon by providing a way for them to hear His word, repent, and turn their lives around to become His disciples. It's a challenge for me to let go of my prejudice of others before and this year I've been given the opportunity to see how someone else is showing her Christlike love to someone who was not easy for me to show Christlike love myself. That did inspire me and help me change my perspective about the person that I'm able to let go of my own prejudice and fill my heart with Christlike love instead.
My favorite story in the Book of Mormon taught me that the Savior would come for us at the hour that we needed Him the most when we are faithful to Him.
In the Book of Mormon we read the very last words of Jesus Christ as He spoke to His prophet the night right before He was born. Those are the most comforting words for me, and a lot more comforting to the people who have been waiting to see the sign of His birth and were about to die if the sign wouldn't come, assuring that on the morrow He would come into the world. And He did. He fulfilled all the words that He has spoken to all His holy prophets.
