2 Nephi 2: 6; Alma 7: 7-13; 11: 40; Helaman 5: 9; 14: 16-17

How are you showing your gratitude to the Savior for fulfilling His redeeming mission?

"Wherefore, redemption cometh in and through the Holy Messiah; for he is full of grace and truth." (2 Nephi 2: 6)

"For behold, I say unto you there be many things to come; and behold, there is one thing which is of more importance than they all—for behold, the time is not far distant that the Redeemer liveth and cometh among his people.

Behold, I do not say that he will come among us at the time of his dwelling in his mortal tabernacle; for behold, the Spirit hath not said unto me that this should be the case. Now as to this thing I do not know; but this much I do know, that the Lord God hath power to do all things which are according to his word.

But behold, the Spirit hath said this much unto me, saying: Cry unto this people, saying—Repent ye, and prepare the way of the Lord, and walk in his paths, which are straight; for behold, the kingdom of heaven is at hand, and the Son of God cometh upon the face of the earth.

10 And behold, he shall be born of Mary, at Jerusalem which is the land of our forefathers, she being a virgin, a precious and chosen vessel, who shall be overshadowed and conceive by the power of the Holy Ghost, and bring forth a son, yea, even the Son of God.

11 And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people.

12 And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities.

13 Now the Spirit knoweth all things; nevertheless the Son of God suffereth according to the flesh that he might take upon him the sins of his people, that he might blot out their transgressions according to the power of his deliverance; and now behold, this is the testimony which is in me." (Alma 7: 7-13)

"40 And he shall come into the world to redeem his people; and he shall take upon him the transgressions of those who believe on his name; and these are they that shall have eternal life, and salvation cometh to none else." (Alma 11: 40)

"O remember, remember, my sons, the words which king Benjamin spake unto his people; yea, remember that there is no other way nor means whereby man can be saved, only through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ, who shall come; yea, remember that he cometh to redeem the world." (Helaman 5: 9)

"16 Yea, behold, this death bringeth to pass the resurrection, and redeemeth all mankind from the first death—that spiritual death; for all mankind, by the fall of Adam being cut off from the presence of the Lord, are considered as dead, both as to things temporal and to things spiritual.

17 But behold, the resurrection of Christ redeemeth mankind, yea, even all mankind, and bringeth them back into the presence of the Lord." (Helaman 14: 16-17)

And here's the end part of the commentary entitled: "Jesus Christ is the Redeemer of the world." :

"What have you learned from the Book of Mormon this year about the Savior’s power to redeem you? Do any accounts or teachings stand out to you? Consider what the following passages teach you about the Savior’s redeeming mission: 2 Nephi 2:6Alma 7:7–1311:40; and Helaman 5:914:16–17. What do you feel inspired to do to show Him your gratitude?"

"The Lord God hath power to do all things which are according to His word." These words have been a source of comfort for me especially this year 2024. Because the Lord God has the power to do all things, I do know I can do all things through Him. I can do all things through Christ. When God is with me, who can be against me? Nothing! With Him, all things are possible! Adversities have no power to put me down to the point of destruction when God is with me.

When my friend/team leader passed away during the summer this year because of cancer, I was ready for it. When I learned about her cancer and that her life may be terminated after a period of time, I was so emotional. And yet because of my knowledge of the Lord's resurrection, it didn't take long until I was able to accept the fact that I won't be seeing my friend in this earthly life again until we will all be resurrected. I'm so grateful to know that we will be resurrected after this earthly life is over. Death is only temporary because Jesus Christ's resurrection "redeemeth mankind, yea, even all mankind, and bringeth them back into the presence of the Lord."

Writing and sharing this blog is one of the ways I am showing my gratitude to the Savior for fulfilling His redeeming mission. I feel inspired to keep doing this and apart from this, I'm inspired to hold up my light higher, open my mouth more, and share my testimony of the Savior's fulfilling His redeeming mission when I see the opportunity. And I feel inspired to not wait for opportunities to arise but rather seek those opportunities. From now on I am more intentional with holding up my light (Jesus Christ), opening my mouth, and sharing about my Savior with those around me especially more than ever before. He is the Gift from our loving Heavenly Father for all His children. Wouldn't it be great to be an instrument in holding Him up for all the world to see so that many more will be able to come unto Him?
