What are the differences between God and Satan?
"First: Know the truth about who you are. I believe that if the Lord were speaking to you directly tonight, the first thing He would make sure you understand is your true identity. My dear friends, you are literally spirit children of God. You have sung this truth since you learned the words to “I Am a Child of God.” But is that eternal truth imprinted upon your heart? Has this truth rescued you when confronted with temptation?" (“Choices for Eternity” [worldwide devotional for young adults, May 2022], Gospel Library).
"4 And, behold, thou art my son; wherefore look, and I will show thee the workmanship of mine hands; but not all, for my works are without end, and also my words, for they never cease.
6 And I have a work for thee, Moses, my son; and thou art in the similitude of mine Only Begotten; and mine Only Begotten is and shall be the Savior, for he is full of grace and truth; but there is no God beside me, and all things are present with me, for I know them all." (Moses 1:4, 6)
"12 And it came to pass that when Moses had said these words, behold, Satan came tempting him, saying: Moses, son of man, worship me." (Moses 1:12)
And here's the beginning part of the commentary entitled: "As a child of God, I have a divine destiny." :
"“If the Lord were speaking to you directly,” President Russell M. Nelson taught, “the first thing He would make sure you understand is your true identity” (“Choices for Eternity” [worldwide devotional for young adults, May 2022], Gospel Library). It follows that Satan would try to confuse you on that same point. Look for this pattern in God’s message to Moses in Moses 1:4, 6 and in Satan’s messages in Moses 1:12. What do you learn from these verses about the differences between God and Satan?"
The Differences between God and Satan:
- God would make sure you understand your true identity, while Satan would try to confuse you.
- God would want the truth about who you are, rescue you when confronted with temptation, while Satan would tempt you so you would forget your own identity and get lost.
- God provided a Savior through the sacrifice of His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, the center of His divine plan for His children--to enable them to reach their full potential and have fullness of joy, while Satan rebelled against God and would deceive to make God's children choose what would give them only fleeting happiness, because He wants them to become miserable like unto himself.
- God gave His children the gift of free agency. He would inspire and persuade so that His children would choose to follow His plan. On the other hand, Satan would start to take control slowly in the beginning and would persist until he is able to take over, because he wants God's children to be put into bondage, and he wants to force everyone to submit to him.
- God is honest and true and would keep His promises to His children, while Satan is the father of lies.
- God wants His children to progress, while Satan wants to destroy.
