When your life feels chaotic or unfinished, how does the Creation story help you trust that God is still creating something magnificent in you?
"2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." (Genesis 1:2)
"2 And the earth, after it was formed, was empty and desolate, because they had not formed anything but the earth; and darkness reigned upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of the Gods was brooding upon the face of the waters." (Abraham 4:2)
"26 ¶ And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth." (Genesis 1:26)
And here's the introductory commentary to this week's reading assignment: "January 12–18: “In the Beginning God Created the Heaven and the Earth” Genesis 1–2; Moses 2–3; Abraham 4–5" :
"Because the world around us is so beautiful and majestic, it’s hard to imagine the earth when it was “without form, and void” and “empty and desolate” (Genesis 1:2; Abraham 4:2). One thing the Creation story teaches us is that God can, over time, make something magnificent out of something unorganized. That’s helpful to remember when life seems chaotic. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are Creators, and Their creative work with us is not finished. They can make light shine in dark moments in our lives. They can fill our emptiness with life. They can transform us into the divine beings we were meant to be. That’s what it means to be created in God’s image, after His likeness (see Genesis 1:26). We have the potential to become like Him: exalted, glorified, heavenly.

God can indeed, over time, make something magnificent out of something unorganized, unfinished, or chaotic. Over the last five decades of my whole life, God has been transforming the chaos in different areas of my life as I was able to learn to turn to, and trust in Him, and rely on His power and grace. I'm so grateful that Heavenly Father gave us His Only Begotten Son, whose gentle ways, perfect love, and perfect example Has been touching every part of my being and inspiring me that I am able to make up my mind and choose to continue to follow Him so that I can become more like Him and reach my full potential as a daughter of God. I know I am created in the image of God, I am a daughter of God, my Heavenly Father, and so I inherited from Him the potential to become exalted, glorified, and heavenly, just like He is. And I am able to progress towards fulfilling my full potential, not just because of my own effort but because of the touch of my Savior Jesus Christ's hand.
