Mosiah 26: 1-6

How does listening to the prophet's voice more consistently help strengthen your belief in God?

"Now it came to pass that there were many of the rising generation that could not understand the words of king Benjamin, being little children at the time he spake unto his people; and they did not believe the tradition of their fathers.

They did not believe what had been said concerning the resurrection of the dead, neither did they believe concerning the coming of Christ.

And now because of their unbelief they could not understand the word of God; and their hearts were hardened.

And they would not be baptized; neither would they join the church. And they were a separate people as to their faith, and remained so ever after, even in their carnal and sinful state; for they would not call upon the Lord their God.

And now in the reign of Mosiah they were not half so numerous as the people of God; but because of the dissensions among the brethren they became more numerous.

For it came to pass that they did deceive many with their flattering words, who were in the church, and did cause them to commit many sins; therefore it became expedient that those who committed sin, that were in the church, should be admonished by the church." (Mosiah 26: 1-6)

And here's the commentary entitled, "I can help others come unto Jesus Christ." :

"Conversion is personal—it cannot be passed like an inheritance to one’s children. As you read Mosiah 26:1–6, ponder possible reasons “the rising generation” fell away, and notice the consequences of their unbelief. You might also think about people you wish you could bring to Christ. Throughout your study of Mosiah 25–28, the Spirit may whisper things you can do to help them develop faith in Jesus Christ."

As children grow up and develop their own preferences, they tend to make choices as they please. And there are many influences around them that are grabbing their attention especially in this day and age of advanced technology in information and communication. During King Mosiah's reign, the. influence the rising generation was having was mostly from their peers or people immediately around them. Now children can be influenced by not just people around them, even by people from all over the world.

The rising generation during Mosiah's reign stopped listening to the prophet's voice. That decision led to their falling away and unbelief in God. The rising generation right now can learn from this and turn things around instead of making history repeat itself. And I can leverage the power of technology more than ever before to be able to help them come unto Jesus Christ. Writing this blog and sharing it is one of the ways I am leveraging the internet. I can do more than this. I can leverage other social media platforms more. And I choose to do this while I am still around because we never know when is my last day on earth, right? So, If I could help others develop faith in Jesus Christ, now is the time to do it, while I still have the power--physical and mental strength and energy to make things happen.
